Hello friends and I hope this newsletter finds you all well and enjoying life.
Like most of my previous newsletters I am writing this from one of the many cruise ships that I am lucky enough to perform on. Right now I am sailing towards the fabulous port of Palma De Majorca on the very beautiful and refined Oceania Sirena…a very high class ship with a wonderful orchestra, great stage staff and food to die for! I had a great crowd in the theatre for my 1st performance the other night and have had so many people come up to me and tell me how much they loved the show. Once you’ve performed everybody knows you on a ship and everyone wants to chat and find out a bit more about you. It’s great…it’s what it’s all about.
This year is flying by….well into the second half of the year already. It’s been a very hectic year and I’m continually busy flying to perform on the many major cruise lines and cruise ships that I’ve had the pleasure to work on for many years. I’m also very proud to have been booked by three new cruise companies for dates this year and 2020 so the future is looking good in the cruise world.
I am currently based in the UK for the current European cruise season and go back to our home in Florida at the end of August. Emma and the kids have just flown back but we had a fabulous month together in Lancashire catching up with family and friends while I was flying in and out to perform on various ships. We had a terrific week at the famous Lytham Festival enjoying artistes such as Rod Stewart and Kylie Minogue. This festival has become an annual event for us and we love the music and catching up with old friends.
In March this year I was very excited to perform my Irish shows for St Patrick’s weekend in Florida .I performed at the very prestigious Dr Phillips Center in Orlando which regularly hosts huge stars such as Tony Bennet etc. I also had the honor of appearing in my home town of Celebration for the concert series at the Presbyterian Church the very next night. The shows were a huge success and I had great support from the incredibly talented Osceola School for the Arts String Ensemble under the director of Rueff Frazao, the fabulous Amanda Finnegan Academy of Irish Dance and my daughter Ellie Jo Lovini who brought the house down with our beautiful version of Danny Boy..not a dry eye in the place!
I am very busy all year on the ships but I’m also excited to be performing some land based gigs in South and Central Florida. I’ve also got a few exciting projects I’m working on with a couple of musician friends so watch this space!!
I’m very proud and pleased to announce that I will be performing two shows to Celebrate St Patrick’s day on March 15th and 16th at two different venues here in Orlando.
The first show on the 15th March will be at the very prestigious Dr Phillips Center in Orlando City and the very next night, 16th March right here in my home town of Celebration for the Celebration Concert Series.
My very varied programme will suit all ages and musical tastes and will feature many of my ever popular Irish tunes as well as rock, pop, Disney and much, much more!!!
Hi everybody it’s been a while since my last newsletter but I just wanted to say a big ‘hello’ and hope you are all well and enjoying life.
I continue to Headline for many major cruise lines and even a few new ones, including Disney!! I have also performed at some great venues in Florida including The Del Webb Community and have a huge concert coming up on Saturday 25th August at The Villages which I’m absolutely thrilled about. The venue for this concert is the amazing Sharon L Morse Performing Arts Center which seats 1200 people, so I’m looking forward to seeing many of my USA fans there! I have my super 8 piece band backing me and a great technical team of sound and lights so this should be an amazing night and could be the start of great things……watch this space!
I have been working extremely hard on some new hip and exciting material for my show. I have included Ed Sheeran and Avicci tunes which went down a storm at my two performances at The Osceola School of Performing Arts here in Orlando. It was a great honor to be asked to perform for the Osceola County Schools at this fantastic school which teaches extremely gifted student performers in all aspects of music, art and performance. I would like to thank Pamela Haas and Debbie Fahmie for this fabulous opportunity and if I’ve inspired any of these talented individuals in any way through my performances this week then that would make me very happy indeed. I’ve never seen so many string players perform under one roof in my life and it was an experience I’ll never forget. Seeing and meeting these wonderful kids certainly inspired me and I look forward to the next time!
Earlier this year I again had the great honor to join my Brother Water Rats in Las Vegas for a few days of great fun and camaraderie. This was the second year in a row, we were invited to the magnificent Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino by Owner and Founder and Brother Companion Rat Robert Earle Jr and his Father, Water Rat Robert Snr. A truly fabulous week concluded with a Rat’s lodge meeting in Robert’s lavish penthouse suite overlooking the famous Vegas strip and the Bellagio dancing fountains. I had the very great honor of being Pro Tem Musical Rat and I played our anthems as Pro Tem King Rat Ian Richards and the rest of my Brother Rats entered the lodge. It was a brilliant lodge and we never stopped laughing from beginning to end.
As most of you will know my family and I have been living in the beautiful town of Celebration, Orlando for the last few years. We really are loving our dream life in Florida and have met and made so many wonderful friends here.
I continue to fly around the world Headlining on the ships and I’m beginning to do more and more concerts here in the USA which was one of my main aims when we decided to move to Florida. With the power of social media and the aid of all the modern technology we are only a click away from seeing and speaking to all our friends and family back in the UK so we never feel so far away.
We never know what’s around the corner but for now I continue to live and enjoy life and to entertain my fabulous audiences. Long may it continue!
Absolutely thrilled to be performing at The String Along Concert at The Osceola County School for the Arts on Monday 23rd April and Thursday 26th April. Inspiring the next generation here in Florida! Gx
Hope you are all well and enjoying life. I am currently at home here in beautiful Celebration, watching the late late show with James Cordon and listening to my incredibly talented daughter Ellie singing her heart out! She is learning a couple of new Disney songs for her upcoming school talent show and we are being treated to the full performance, complete with all the actions, night after night. Love it!!
Hello friends I am currently sat in Starbucks in the beautiful town of Celebration, Orlando. It is gorgeous winters day here in sunny Florida.
I have been working hard on my shows for the last few years introducing new material and tracks which has proved to be a major factor in my continued success on the newest super ships as well as all the other luxury liners I perform on. Continue reading →
I have been a member of the Grand Order of Water Rats(GOWR) for over twenty years and I’m just as proud today as I ever was to belong to this most wonderful of show business institutions.
It was while working with the great Roy Hudd, my friend and mentor, that I first became interested in the Water Rats. I had been playing Alan-a-Dale in Babes in the Wood, a pantomime which had been written and directed by Roy. I was lucky to appear for 5 straight years in this panto which also starred the late Geoffrey Hughes (Onslow in Keeping up Appearances and Eddie Yeats in Coronation St) and legendary Dame Jack Tripp.
Gary is pleased to announce he has once again been asked to be a Celebrity Judge for this years final of Preston’s Got Talent organized by The Katy Holmes Trust at The Pines, Leyland, Preston on Sunday 2nd November.
Gary and his wife Emma are very proud to be Ambassador’s to the Katy Holme Trust as the charity is very close to their hearts after losing Emma’s Brother to a Brain Tumour back in December 2012.
The charity is dedicated to raising awareness of paediatric brain tumours and raises money to fund the research in memory of beautiful 10 year old Katy Holmes who sadly passed away in January 2012. Brain Tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children in the UK and the government only gives 0.7% of funding towards research.
We are thrilled to announce Gary Lovini will be appearing for “One Night Only” at Lowther Pavilion Theatre on Thursday 11th September. Gary is delighted to bring his own spectacular show to Lytham St. Anne’s Lancashire UK in a rare local performance with Special Guest Kelsey Beth Crossley.
