About Gary

Past Appearances

Gary Lovini was the first violinist to successfully bridge the gap between classical and popular music. A true showman, he captivates audiences of all nationalities, ages and tastes and language is no barrier to the talents of this world class entertainer.

His love affair with the violin began at the age of 8 and his progress was so rapid that by the age of 10 he had passed all his classical grades with distinction. He went on to play in the region’s most prestigious youth orchestra, Staffordshire County Youth Orchestra. Even now at this age he was showing signs of becoming an individual entertainer. The real turning point came when he reached the final of a National Talent Competition staged by the English Tourist Board. Out of 10,000 entrants, Gary came second and led to his first appearance at the world famous London Palladium.

After this success Gary was bombarded with offers from Managers, Agents and Producers to perform in clubs and theatres throughout the UK. Gary brought his unique violin show to venues where you would not normally associate the violin, possibly the only violinist to build up a reputation this way. Before Gary came onto the scene, the violin was perceived solely as a classical/jazz instrument, only to be listened to by classical and jazz lovers. He began to realize his unique style of playing appealed to a wider audience, and, as a natural showman, Gary was easily able to adapt his performances. People would turn up from all over the country to hear him play.

He was then spotted by a talent scout at a Theatre Showcase and was asked to perform on the most famous ship in the world at that time, The QE2. Such was the success of his violin show, Cunard offices in New York and Southampton were inundated with enquiries from passengers asking when they could see Gary perform again. A few weeks later Cunard Line flew Gary, by Concord no less, to the QE2’s world cruise joining the ship in Rio de Janeiro. He also became the youngest ever entertainer in the history of Cunard Line at the age of just 16 – a record which he will surely never loose.

The following year THE major turning point came when he entered a British TV Talent Show called “New Faces” which had over 15 million viewers. Gary was such an instant hit with the viewers and studio audience that he won the entire series, with the most viewers’ votes. This launched his TV Career. He appeared extensively on such major TV programmes as Sunday Night at the London Palladium, Summertime Special, Wogan, The Des O’Connor Show and the prestigious Royal Variety Performance. He was signed up by a well known Show Business Management Company and he began to work in every facet of his profession such as TV, Radio, National Tours, Pantomimes, Summer Seasons with the UK’s biggest stars, and Theatres including a 3 month engagement at the world famous London Palladium.

After a performance on the QE2, Gary was noticed by an American pianist, Mickey Finn. He was asked to appear as a guest on his TV programme “The Mickey Finn Show” filmed for PBS TV in the USA to rave reviews and subsequently went on to perform at many theatres in Florida.

Alongside his UK Theatre shows, tours and pantomimes, Gary began to fly to Cruise Ships all over the world performing his amazing violin show to passengers. He remains a major Head Liner act in the Cruise Industry to this day, wowing people from all corners of the world.

Gary Lovini has become one of the most sought after speciality acts in the UK. He has a unique way of making the violin appealing to all his audiences and his electrifying show receives standing ovations wherever he performs!

Currently, Gary is working in the studio on new material. This latest venture will enable him to expand his repertoire to include more orchestral and modern music which will make him available to perform at any type of venue big or small, including Arenas, Last Night of the Proms Concerts and Festivals etc. It has given him the ability to take on engagements from all and any Corporate Venues and Events. Gary has recently been booked to perform at a Celebrity Wedding for the OK Magazine and supported superstar tenor Russell Watson at a “Last Night of the Proms” style concert with special guests Jonathan & Charlotte, Britain’s Got Talent Stars. Gary is loving these new challenges and loves his new image and his amazing new material.
